In dreaming big, and filled with God’s Holy Spirit, jeff noel prayed for understanding and direction from the vision his teacher shared in yesterday’s post.
Would it be possible to be so full of God’s Holy Spirit that while “doing a reading”, it was God’s voice, not his own, that would cause Parishioners to stop following along in the Missal, look up and see the Lector as if it was Saint Paul, Abraham, or the Prophet Jeremiah, etc.

The Sunday epiphany was that the congregation was also going through the motions, at least as far as jeff noel saw it. Please consider the fact that noel had spiritually gone through the motions his entire life. Now his eyes (and ears) were wide open spiritually.
The congregation dutifully sat and read along word for word as the Lector read. noel had been inspired by a passionate teacher to visualize themselves proclaiming God’s Holy word, not “doing a reading”.

The Catholic Church uses volunteers to conduct Mass. So jeff noel volunteers his public speaking experience, as a Catholic Lector. Typically, The Old Testament and The New Testament passages are read by laypeople and the Priest or Deacon reads The Gospel.
Baptized Lutheran and converted to Catholicism (1999 at age 40), jeff noel quickly saw the stereotypical (but well-intentioned) going-through-the-motions sound of a Lector who reads the way they’ve grown up listening. This led to a Sunday epiphany.
