Two thumbs up from Walt

Great Disney Institute Keynote speakers
Envisioning Walt over there, giving two thumbs up. If you don’t know, two thumbs up is the highest compliment Walt bestowed to others as he walked the Park.

The opportunity to put Disney on my resume first appeared in 1981. At that time, was a fifth-year senior. The Walt Disney World College Program came to West Chester University on a recruiting trip. Serendipitously became aware of their presentation, attended, and signed up for an interview. With no idea what i wanted to be when i grew up, instinctively felt “Disney” on the resume would be a competitive advantage for some future entry-level job somewhere in the USA.

Two months later, an acceptance letter arrived.

Note: January 25, 1982 is official hire date. In 1982, Magic Kingdom College Program (MKCP) preceded the Walt Disney World College Program.

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays.

November 10, 2021.

There will come a calendar day when you won’t see the sunrise.

Meanwhile, because you saw this morning’s sunrise, celebrate.

Make today whatever holiday you want.

It’s not lost on me that this is our harvest time and that we (me and Cheryl) have more discretionary time now than since we were kids.

And we have wisdom and knowledge that is peaking – and will continue to peak as we age.

We are far from being immune from the hell(s) of life.

Yet we press on ever grateful for today’s Holiday.

Private meet and greet with Mickey Mouse

A private Mickey Mouse meet and greet is an incredible experience. Magical. Even for a room full of Disney Cast Members.

How?

Why?

Not sure.

Luck?

Probably.

The Father of modern day creativity?

Walt Disney.

Wondering where Walt’s spirit was on this day (week, month, year).

Was he bathed in peace and contentment?

Was he present in every moment?

Was he an example for his family, friends, and colleagues?

Tomorrow is Cheryl’s Disney retirement party. Looking forward to seeing her cumulative organizational value, her world-class contributions, and humble legacy bring her overwhelming peace and contentment.

While today is this, it is also almost this

While today is this (Disney retirement 4th anniversary), it is also almost this…

The 10th anniversary of incorporating Mid Life Celebration, LLC.

So yeah, January 1, 2009, i officially registered my small business and got a tax ID.

The first six years had no revenue.

Can you imagine?

No, seriously, can you imagine?

i was still at Disney Institute and was in the slow and steady “build an asset” phase with blogging, social media, and writing/publishing the first book.

PS. i know it can be weird trying to read stuff that happened 60 days ago, but much of the other media we consume is similarly produced – live, but recorded, and then aired later. That’s all this is.
