i asked the 90-year old, like i always do when we visit, “Are you afraid?”
Carrying a sense of obligation to help him articulate that he’s ok with his situation, even as it deteriorates.
Maybe i’ve tried long enough and hard enough.
Maybe next visit i don’t even mention it or concern myself with it.
It’s worth a try.
