Dear Ms. Marisol Fitch

Disney Customer Service keynote speaker
January 2016.

Dear Ms. Marisol Fitch,

i probably shouldn’t be telling you this.

i have first hand experience in dealing with Florida Hospital.

And my personal findings over the past five years are staggering.

i’m convinced a 100-bed Florida Hospital facility would be a miracle in my community, Horizon West. Horizon West is a 23,000 acre planned development on Walt Disney World’s North and Northwest border.

It would be Horizon West’s first and only hospital.

It will serve an area of explosive and dense growth.

Having their hospital become a reality, well, it’s pretty easy to connect the dots or do the math as they say.

In layperson’s terms, “it’s a no-brainer”.

Why?

Here’s the part that’s staggering. As a recently retired 30-year Disney leadership veteran, including the final 15 years speaking to over one-million people and nearly 2,000 different organizations through Disney Institute, only one organization was able to accomplish a remarkable feat.

Florida Hospital.

In the five years i’ve been associated with Florida Hospital’s leadership and staff, which includes about 3,000 employees, hundreds of leaders and physicians during “Patient Care initiatives” at their downtown Orlando, Winter Park, and most recently Winter Garden facilities i witnessed something rare.

They are the only company where every single person in the organization can articulate the mission immediately and without hesitation.

Stunning, actually.

Verbally, publicly, and simultaneously (from dozens to hundreds at a time) speak their Mission without a moment of hesitation.

Normally when i ask an audience to do this all you can hear are crickets.

Silence.

Embarrassing, deafening silence.

“To extend the healing ministry of Christ” doesn’t require you to be Christian, it only requires you to be filled with compassion.

Filled.

Full.

100%

Think of your personal job and the jobs of all the people in your organization. It’s literally impossible to get everyone the same page, no?

Not at Florida Hospital.

Living (since 1992) six miles south in Royal Ranch Estates, i cannot wait to feel the security of a “neighborhood”, world-class Hospital.

Evolution and Religion, my understanding

Jeremy Camp CD
Listening to Orlando radio station yesterday at gym and the post below came to mind.

Evolution and Religion, my understanding…

Something bigger than humans will ever be able to comprehend created the world we live in today.

The notion that God did a bunch of amazing things in six days and then rested the seventh is ludicrous.

It took billions of years to get to where we are today. Evolution obviously allowed for the human species to evolve into the superior mammal change agent.

Proceed with caution…

Nature is brutal.

It’s challenging for me to watch some nature shows, which can be worse than a horror movie – because its not a movie, it’s real.

I recently watched a horrific Lion attack on another Lion. Four males attacked and began eating another male alive. It was gruesome.

Humans have found a way to civilize the food chain in their favor.

Enter greed and the evolutionary process may implode on itself.

We need “religion” to counter greed and all the brutality that comes with it.

Jeremy Camp’s video…worth watching. Or the same song live version.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

There’s a point in life where we have the opportunity to take charge of our own thinking. To become quote-worthy so to speak. This photo is a rare exception, taken a few days ago on LinkedIn.

Church today will be at Lake Minneola High School.

i can remember when i thought consistent attendance at Church defined our commitment to “religion”.

Now, i no longer think like that.

Church is every step we take.

Well, at least it could be if a person was not distracted.

A decade from now we’ll wish we had started this year

A decade from now we’ll wish we had started this year.

Volunteering more.

Showing compassion more often.

Eliminating judgement of others.

Smiling and saying something nice to more people more often.

Downshifting our hurried pace.

Some noticers often notice well after noticing

Palm Sunday
To willingly die for the salvation of others is overwhelming.

The Spring Equinox came and went without fanfare yesterday.

But Palm Sunday made Church noticeably fuller with seats “standing room only”.

Next Sunday we’ll be in Allentown and most likely will not go anywhere Easter day.

The Nursing Home will have an in-house service.

This will be a first for us.

Note: i was ready to try a different Church yesterday, but we decided on waiting for now. There’s a Church adjacent to our subdivision, and another just down the road.
