Culture defined in one word

Disney Keynote Speaker
Disney Keynote Speakers, generally, are wise and decently entertaining.

Culture is defined in one word.

Habits.

The easier it is to do something, the easier it is to do it again. The easier it is to not do something, the easier it is to not do it again.

Note: Wisdom can often sound too elementary.

Time on my spirit

Disney Institute team Photo, 2007

The time to serve is now.

What?

Why?

How?

When your every step is ‘church’, you can serve all day. Every day.

In the giving you receive.

Give like you mean it.

Receive like you are starving, and insanely grateful.

Disney taught me

meeting coo inside Disney University
“Thanks for dropping in!” Started working here in 1982. The Center Building. Now (and for a long time) called Disney University.

Disney taught me to exceed expectations by paying attention to details.

The essence is to pay attention to details that 99.9% of any audience will never notice.

Why invest time, effort, and or money on something “no one” notices?

Why? Because someone will notice and they will be blown away – the lucky recipient of the wow-factor.

The ripple effect from working in an organization that always does this is that you can transfer the practice into whatever role you play in your company.

Got any ideas?

10-second video: Literally just an ordinary day in my hometown.
The Nursing College CEO for Galen
An up and coming Nursing College is opening an Orlando campus Spring 2025. Cinderella Castle, and other iconic Orlando symbols adorn this 30-foot long hallway wall.
The nursing college CEO and me. Yesterday. All these ‘thoughts’ they heard from me. The exception is their “Building the Lamp”.

Great ideas can, and should, come from anywhere.

The brand new employee.

The 30-year employee.

The executive.

The janitor.

The customer.

A movie.

A setback.

Your competition.

Anyone in any industry.

While walking during a vacation.

While paying attention to details you used to under-focus on or ignore.

To each their own, spirit

Three Finnish ski jumps adjacent to each other
Finland, 2009. We ain’t in Kansas anymore.

Feel what you want to feel. Worship or don’t worship.

To each their own. Right?

Don’t worry about what others think about your spiritual habits.

They don’t worry about your hope, your faith, or your love.

Why would they?

What a revelation.

Who knew?

Now i do.

One of my late-in-life revelations.

It’s easy to wonder what my life would have been like in my 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s had i not worried about what others thought of my habits.

But these days, gratefully, i surrender to the past. Grateful for moving on and never looking back, in the last decade or so.
