Powerful, Hopeful Dreams
Powerful, Hopeful Dreams

Do you volunteer to help out where you can?

Sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

Most people never do. They intend to, but life gets in the way.

After Mass yesterday, where I volunteered (10 years now) as a Lector, I went looking for Father Ennis. Based on a post last week, I wanted to tell him something.

Something he needs to hear.

Something he probably doesn’t hear nearly enough.

Rainy Day Christian?

The Devil Makes Us Think The Weather's Fine
The Devil Makes Us Think The Weather's Fine

It’s such a cliche: When it rains, it pours.

It’s timeless wisdom: The best time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.

I think it’s clear, we know deep down inside if we’re a rainy day Christian or not.

Are You Praying Too Slow?

There Is No Limit For Prayer
There Is No Limit For Prayer

There is no fancy website test here. But the question, “How well do you pray?”, is a good one to think about.

For probably 20 years, I’ve thought to myself that the meaning of life is peace and contentment.

Peace with who you are, and content with what you have.

In 51 years, I have found nothing even comes close to offering this, except daily, moment to moment prayer. And in the last ten years, through trial and error, there is great peace and contentment.

The phrase “carpe diem“, or seize the day, means nothing, if you don’t actually do it.

And doing it requires a peace and contentment that is uncommon.

Being present. Being thankful. Being forgiving. Exercise. Nutrition. Rest. Play. Purposeful work.

I don’t think these are out of reach for anyone. Do you?

Does Your Workplace Feel Like A Zoo?

Today is particularly focused on all of you challenged at work. How many of you have an organizational culture that leaves you struggling to feel fully alive and thriving?

As a professional speaker and an avid blogger, I see and hear more than most. There is a universal epidemic inside virtually every organization. The epidemic has two symptoms: fear and uncertainty.

Courage and moral integrity are on the run.

Please pray for anyone struggling at work, for any reason, it doesn’t matter. And when I say pray, what’s really being suggested today, is that you pray so deliberately that it nearly brings you to tears.

Why? Because there are way too many who desperately need it.

King Of Glory

The young girl, our neighbor, is going to be alright. The fractures and complications do not require surgery.

Thank you to everyone who found a moment(s) to pray. We ask that you continue to pray, for everyone. There is such a need for prayer. How about for world peace with the New York car bomb attempt? Or, for a way to stop the oil from spewing into the Gulf of Mexico?

Here’s Chris Tomlin’s song that inspired today’s post title. HIS glory is our refuge:
