Sowing Seeds

From A Tiny Acorn, A Mighty Oak Does Grow
From A Tiny Acorn, A Mighty Oak Does Grow

It matters little to walk to do the preaching if not the walking is the preaching. In this note from Patty, we are not only preaching as we walk, but we are also sowing.

Take it away Patty…

Sowing Seeds, by my friend, Patty Hebert:

A local religious educator told me her objective is not to press out cookie cutter nuns and priests from her students, but to gently sow small seeds of Christ’s love into the folds of their lives. Can you picture that? The teacher, the gardener, teaching, tending to her students, His gardens. Quietly erecting a spiritual infrastructure for both opportunities and hardship, alike. A faith formed scaffolding to support them, and to rest upon.

Imagine if we were all sowers of seeds; one small seed at a time. Imagine what our world would be like if we took the hand of Jesus. Our lives and the lives of those gardens about us would never be the same.

Overcome Last Night

In bed early last night, with the alarm set for 3:30AM. Occasionally, if I’m the first in bed, I’ll use headphones to listen to something inspiring to fall asleep to.

Awoke to the end of a song that overwhelmed me in it’s beauty. It reminded me why Christmas is so important.

While most of you are just too insanely busy to watch and listen, this post is offered with the hopeful reality that you can find that solitude we spoke of yesterday. And listen.

The people (some may be bloggers) who nag you are the ones who love you. Worry when they stop.

Guilty Feeling

Wide Open Spaces
Wide Open Spaces

What makes humans feel guilt?

What makes you feel guilty?

Know what makes me feel guilty?

Goodness.

This week, my son and I have taken several sunset walks. We end up in our back yard. A really big back yard. The sun has set, and now it’s twilight.

“Son, look around. Do you see how much space is here in this yard, from one side to the other?”

He says, “Yes.”

“I’m not saying that other sized yards are better or worse. I’m just saying that Mommy and Daddy worked really, really hard to make this yard possible.”

For something like seven years, Cheryl and I spent, what seemed like a majority of our weekends looking for a big yard near Walt Disney World.

The first 15 years in Central Florida, I worked every weekend, and had either a Saturday or a Sunday off, but never both.

And on that lone weekend day off, we combed the area north of Disney, south of Disney, east of Disney, west of Disney.

The result? Nothing. Year after year. Nothing.

Until one day….

Courage To Do What’s Needed

Got Courage?
Got Courage?

Thank you Mary and to you too, Joseph, for your courage to do what was needed.

Rejoice.

Peace on Earth, good will toward men.

Emmanuel.

Prince of Peace.

And the list goes on and on.

But does my courage?

Fall, on your knees, oh hear the angel voices….

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Thank you for your kindness, prayers and support.

With joyful hope that 2010, and the realization that our Savior has arrived, gives us the Courage to do what needs to be done.

And also the Peace that comes from knowing that it’s not our will, but His.
