Tools of the trade

Disney Ticket featuring Goofy
How can anyone have something to celebrate every single day? How can anyone NOT have something to celebrate every single day?

How do you want to live?

It’s your decision.

Begging the question…

How do you make decisions?

One of my most important decisions was to leave a 15-year Disney Resort Hotel Operations career for a Professional Speaker career at Disney Institute (ultimately, another 15 year).

Paradox, questions, and common sense are the 3 tools of my trade as a speaker.

Here’s an example of all 3…and a perfect example of changing what you see so what you see changes…

Does your money determine your wealth, or does your health determine your wealth?

  1. Common sense easily determines the answer.
  2. Paradox of health or money.
  3. And, a simple question.

Addiction challenges

Man with six rows of 10 numbers handwritten vertically on his back
Last allergy skin test was in 2016. Photo: Me a couple days ago for the 2025 skin test. You see 60 “pin-pricks” on my back. There were also 10 more deeper pricks on each arm.

i began getting weekly allergy shots in 2004. Was allergic to so many different things that i required three vials of medicine in three separate shots.

The challenge with addiction is that you relentlessly pursue whatever is important to you.

Managing my pollen allergies is important to me.

Having fun and feeling good is important to me.

Making a difference in other people’s lives is important to me.

It’s a long list. We all have them.

Spiritual patience

Spiritual patience intuitively feels like my number one priority.

The devil doesn’t make us bad. The devil makes us busy.

Busy is the path of least resistance to impatience.

Impatience sucks stinks.

Life places consistent and unrelenting challenges in everyone’s daily path.

Using weather as a ‘weather ‘challenges’ analogy…

All of us experience good weather, okay weather, and bad weather.

There are occasional periods of extended ‘terrific’ weather.

There are occasional periods of extended ‘terrible’ weather.

Patience is easy in good weather.

It’s all the other weather that i wish to master.

Ask like you mean it

Goofy on a Disney email
Garsh, if you can’t articulate your clear, concise, compelling vision, who in God’s name can?

You must lead the asking of dozens of great questions.

Nursing questions are a dime a dozen. Here’s a nickel’s worth;

  1. Why do nurses exist?
  2. Why do families need nurses?
  3. What would families do without nurses?
  4. What would doctors do without nurses?
  5. What would communities do without nurses?
  6. What makes a perfect nurse?

Why is there a profound nursing shortage?

Knowledge wealth

Fun is panning out a bit to add context to this ‘Christmas Tree’ location.

Knowledge wealth.

What?

Knowledge wealth is your ability to learn from vast, often random subjects. This information goldmine can become a liability as easily as an asset.

We are easily distracted, entertained, and often medicated by the internet’s ability to provide instant gratification.

Our best plan/hope requires focus and discipline.

Let me say that again because we are not easily wired for focus and discipline…

Our best plan/hope demands focus and discipline.

Over-focus on sifting to your life’s top priorities.

An obvious top priority is wanting to prioritize your priorities.

The downside to being focused and disciplined – and ‘knowledge rich’ – is that you may outgrow some relationships.

Why?

Because being focused and disciplined with prioritized priorities is too much for most to bear.

Be mindful of this new frontier.

Let your prioritized priorities help you navigate wisely.
