So I Told Him This

“My goal is to help you”.

Had a “deep” conversation with our son (9) last night. He has several chores he’s responsible for. One of them is daily. This is the one that we discussed last night.

We finished our simple dinner from our screened-in back porch. The sun had set and it was dark outside, with only the light from inside the house gently illuminating our peaceful surroundings.

Conditioning led me to first offer a consequence for not doing what he is supposed to do. Then it hit me, what about a reward for doing it, instead of a punishment for not? We agreed to use both.

Generally, children are conditioned to think, “when you don’t do something you get in trouble”. I reminded him that the goal isn’t to catch him doing it wrong. The goal is grand and noble. And the goal is deceptively simple.

“My goal is to help you”.

Pray Without Ceasing

Pray without ceasing. It rolls off our tongues so easily.

But do we?

Do we actually do it?

This is one of the biggest challenges humans face and the main reason we are so disconnected from what we want and from what we actually get.

Ever wonder what you’d get if you actually DID pray without ceasing?

Find a million ways to do this – to stay in the moment. Those continuous, seemingly insignificant moments that make up our day. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year.

Facebook Can Nurture Our Spirit

Facebook can nurture our spirit. It can! Seriously. At least I think it can.

The other day there was dialogue on my wall about someone hearing a Contemporary Christian song and how the lyrics spoke to this person in a profound way.

That’s what Christian Music is all about. Helping us stay mindful of being blessed beyond measure, even when we are not “presently in the moment”. Being present in the moment takes practice. The payoff is HUGE!

Here are a few of my top three favorite Contemporary Christian Artists:

  • Chris Tomlin
  • Steven Curtis Chapman
  • Jeremy Camp

We keep all our radio dials set at 88.3, here in Central Florida. Make it a great day, and remember, you are blessed beyond measure. Seriously. 🙂

Please Keep Me Humble

Good Thursday morning everyone. Thank you for following jeff noel.org Of the five blogs I write everyday, jeff noel.org has the most opportunity for improvement. Why? It’s a mystery at the moment.

The reason for asking to remain humble is this. Just yesterday, in real time – not some made up story – I received two updates:

  1. A friend celebrated his 100th blog post
  2. Another friend celebrated his 1st blog post

One friend posts six days per week (26 per month). The other friend has set a goal to post once per month.

Here’s the crazy part. I post 150+ per month.

Quantity versus quality. It’s not a competition. More isn’t always better. So why so many?

Simply this. I am driven. Driven to serve (and I’m fairly inadequate at it). The Internet is my soapbox. God’s message of Faith, Hope, Love, Peace and Joy is the purpose. Are ya with me?
