Memorial Day

Make today a great day.

I’ll be spending my time remembering those who paid our debt in full, so that we can have the freedom to do what we like.

I wrote a short post at www.junglejeff.net

Peace. Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

The Key to Motivation?

The key to motivation, in my humble opinion, is elusive. Know why?

Because most of us don’t have the patience to analyze the question long enough to find the simple answer.

Know what the simple answer is?

A compelling purpose.

It’s profoundly simple. And, simply profound.

Like what my Doctor told me when he said I needed to focus on only two things to lower my cholesterol. Know what those two simple things are?

I know you know. It’s two things and everybody knows. You don’t have to go to medical school to know this. It’s too simple to require an education.

Drum roll please…..

Diet and exercise.

Motivation?

Find a compelling purpose in life. You’ll be so motivated, it will be mind-blowing.

Until you start to hit the obstacles life throws our way.

This is why simple doesn’t mean easy.

Good luck out there today. Hope you stay focused, even when life is throwing you sucker punches. Learn how to fight back.

Motivation is the best defense against a tough opponent. Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

Are Baby Boomers Cool?

Are Baby Boomers, and even Gen X-ers cool?

Totally!

Way cool!

In 25 days, I have (hopefully) the privilege of turning 50. Seriously,

Of the many blessings and unique things that have happened during those five decades, I have never been an Olympian, nor had a “six-pack”.

Later this summer, I anticipate both becoming reality.

Funny thing though. Neither was a goal I had in mind.

Sure, like some people, I had dreams of these things throughout my lifetime. But never in a million years thought it would come true. And, may I add, I was never longing for, nor hellbent, to accomplish either.

Instead, what did I become passionate about?

Lowering my high cholesterol.

And that is what is leading me to the 2009 Master’s Track & Field World Championships this August.

Feel free to check out this amazing, yet humble, journey to the “old people’s Olympics” at www.Lane8.org .

Our eight-year old son is encouraging me to finish my goal of becoming the slowest of the fastest, out in Lane 8 .

Got 70 pounds?

A few nights ago, I asked our son, eight, to weigh himself.

The scale said 70 pounds.

Wow!

Sometimes, as much as I claim to live in the moment, the moments pass by unnoticed.

Guilty as charged. Seventy pounds. How did that happen? When did that happen.

Every adult I’ve asked for advice on raising children – and there have been hundreds over the years – has said the same thing, “They grow up fast!”

Our lives can be one big flurry of activity with little time in the slow lane.

My goal is to be the slowest of the fastest. Seriously. Check out tomorrow’s post at Lane 8.org for the “punch line”.

Silent Happiness?

Silent Happiness?

Silence fertilizes the deep place where personality grows. A life with a peaceful center can weather all storms“. — Norman Vincent Peale

I find myself questioning Norman’s thought. Why? Because life is really difficult right now for many, many people. It’s so difficult and uncertain, that many of us, myself included, don’t want to admit it.

Therefore, I fall back on everything I know to be true. God never said it would be easy, He just said we would not have to go alone.
