What’s big in Finland? Skiing. Seriously big. Like, they held the 2001 Skiing World Championships here. Other years as well, but most recently the year our son turned one.
So many new and good things coming my way. Will try to share as much as possible. Tomorrow is race day. Stay tuned at www.Lane8.org . Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

Racing to The Gate
In racing to my Finnair flight this morning in Paris, I passed three armed security guards.
Like seriously armed. Uzi’s. Seriously.
I hope my son never sees anything like that when he becomes an adult.
Hopefully, no public place will need that kind of protection.
I once saw a bumper sticker that read, “War is failure of the imagination”.
Now there’s a vision for peace on earth, imagination.

Pearly Gates?
Pearly gates? No.
Delta gate? Yes.
What seemed like an eternity, August 1st, is finally here. And not only that, but I’m here too. Delta gate 71.
The Delta flight is overbooked. First to Atlanta, then Paris, and then Helsinki.
Ever ask yourself, “When will I finally get to where I’m going”?
I do.
I hoped it’s overbooked there too.
I’ll be patient with the overcrowding and the wait, as long as when I get to the gate I hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. We have a seat for you, right this way, please”.

Ten Years for Less Than One Minute
Ten years of effort in exchange for less than one minute of “glory”.
Would you invest a decade in exchange for one minute?
Would you invest an entire lifetime for one minute?
I would. I have. I am.
When the proverbial judgement day arrives for me, there will be less than one minute to hear, or not hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
The great mysteries of life are called mysteries for a very specific reason. We can not fathom them. They will always remain a mystery.
Our challenge, I believe, is to find a way to embrace life and be a good and decent person. It’s called Peace.

Just Keep Telling Yourself
I just have to keep telling myself why I’m doing this.
Why?
To leave a trail for our son.
