The Joy of Dying

Is there Joy in dying? Is there Joy in death?

There certainly is Joy in birth and obviously Joy in being born. Right?

In the past 30 days, I’ve been exposed to nearly one dozen deaths. And these deaths have involved people close to me, or people close to people I’m close to. Ya with me?

Just yesterday, a good friend told me how peaceful the death of her family member was.

It started with tragic news, and there was little time to accept and deal with the impending reality.

And yet in the end, she spoke of it being Peaceful. Joyful.

Perhaps, with a little (or a lot) planning, death will be something we don’t fear, but something we view as simply part of life. Not to be feared, but to be embraced.

Maybe then we can look forward to it. Joyfully.

WWJD

WWJD. What would Jesus do? Most are familiar with this.

Because my mind works in mysterious ways, this acronym could also have a second meaning:

What would jeff do? No one is familiar with this.

That’s okay. As long as it means something to me (everyday), then the odds increase that better choices are made. One day at a time. Always an eye on the future. Always a reflection on the past. But mostly, carpe diem.

What do you do every day, to get and stay focused – in the moment to moment opportunities that today brings you?

You are preparing for this TODAY, right?

So Sad It’s Friday

No, I’m not sad it’s Friday. I’m incredibly grateful it’s Friday.

It’s been an interesting week. Spent five full days “on the road”. Portland, Eugene, University of Oregon, Hayward Field, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and the Joshua Tree National Park.

The incredible folks at Delta Airlines treated me like royalty. Had two long travel days, an 18-hour day and a 12-hour day.

Was humbled by my inability to manage time better than planned.

There are always things that will happen that cannot be foreseen. They almost always happen. Why is it so difficult to accept this?

Whether it’s a trip or daily life, I must learn to plan for the unexpected. Common sense, just not common practice.

Looks like we’ll all have our work cut out for us today. Good luck.

World Class Hope?

jeff noel.org on Wednesday is wondering what it would take to have World Class Hope.

Do you know?

Do you know what it takes to be world-class at any endeavor?

Any suggestions?

Last May, I was at the gym in Orlando, Florida when I had the opportunity to ask Tiger Woods a similar question. So I asked him, “Tiger, if you had one piece of advice for any one wanting to be world class, what would it be?

Check out jeff noel.com for his answer. I just posted a story there with his answer.

It’s a GREAT day to be curious, eh? Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

Blessed Beyond Measure?

Blessed Beyond Measure?

What does that mean, blessed beyond measure?

Ever thought about that?

We have so many blessings that it’s almost too good to be true.

But in order to “cash in” on them, I believe we have to be aware.

Not much awareness goes on in an overly busy schedule. I know. I’m ridiculously busy.

This is why I work so hard each day to be aware.

What if you worked hard at this? What do you think you could gain? Go! Carpe diem! jeff 🙂
